Drummer boy, Roland Walter Lines aged 15.

Roland Walter Lines Guardsman aged 15 as a Drummer boy. He died 19th May 1940 aged 20 years whilst serving in the Grenadier Guards. Roland was the son of Edgar and Ruby Lines. Edgar was a surveyor and the family lived in White House Queen Street.

The 1901 census shows that Albert was the second youngest of the children of Albert Snr. and Annie Copping. In 1904 Alberts father died and by the time of the 1911 census return all of the family had scattered. Albert enlisted and is shown to be a boy soldier.
Albert's war only lasted one month…
