Title

In Memory of Company Serjeant Major Edward Pipe - WW1

Description

In Memory of Company Serjeant Major Edward Pipe of the 2nd Btn. Bedfordshire Regiment who died on 25th September 1915.
*Remembered with Honour*

Edward Pipe was born in 1884 to Richard and Lucy Pipe. His father was a Farm Labourer (1891 census) and they lived on the Laxfield Road. By 1901 Edward was 17 and employed as a 'horseman' at Farm House, Barlow Green. At some time between 1901 and 1911 Edward enlisted in the Bedfordshire Regiment and by the time the 1911 census return was taken he had become a Corporal and was unmarried.
The 1911 census return also tells us that Edward was one of 7 children - one of his siblings pre-deceased him.
