Postcard sent by F Copping to CE Clarke
A postcard dd 23rd JU? 1916 sent by Fred Copping stationed at Chatham in Kent to Charles Clarke who was stationed at Aldershot, Surrey. Charles did not survive WW1 and is now remembered on the village War Memorial.

In Memory of Drummer Albert Arthur Copping. Drummer Albert Copping was in the 2nd Btn.Grenadier Guards and was killed in action on 14th-16th September 1914 at the age of 20. Drummer Albert Copping is a soldier known to God.

The Castells
Charles and Hannah Castell (nee Winter) married in 1897. Their home in Stradbroke was in Queen Street. Charles in 1911 was a gardener and at that time they had one child aged eleven. Their son went on to become one of the early aviators.
